Afternoon Tea was a wonderful experience. Staff was very friendly and everything served was excellent. After several swings and misses to have a "proper" English tea on our visit. I was able to nail it with this service. My wife was pleased as punch and grinning ear to ear when the beautiful three tiered tray arrived at our table. Beautiful seaside location and relaxed but elegant atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to have this experience.

We are on the last night of our stay here. We originally booked for two nights but decided to extend it to three nights due to it being so nice. Actual place is beautiful, food is good but the main thing, the staff and service they provide was second to none. It truly is a special place and good value for money. This will definitely be our go to place on this wonderful North East coast. Thank you Grand Hotel Tynemouth

Traditional old hotel and perhaps more suitable for older clientele as it is quietly classy and sedate. Opposite the brilliant long sands beach and greatest asset is that many rooms have a fabulous sea view.

We had lunch there with our baby and the atmosphere is lovely and cosy. The staff are polite and friendly and go above and beyond. One of the ladies even helped me to the baby changing facilities and set the room up for me with the table. The food there is delicious and great value for money. Thank you

Visited The Grand for an Afternoon Tea celebrating a big birthday. Had a lovely seat in the window overlooking the beach, which was perfect! The booking was on 2nd January, so the hotel still had Christmas decorations up and it looked beautiful! Would definitely want to go back during Christmad next year for a visit. Beautiful quiet room ( was in the Drawing room). I am vegetarian and my friend has 2 severe food allergies - they had all the information from our booking in front of them and clarified what was in the foods and what were the allergies. Coffee arrived immediately and our individual cake stands came quickly after. As a vegetarian, the choice was a little limited. There were 4 sandwich choices ( only the egg and cucumber was suitable for me) and they can remove/duplicate any choices. I got 2 egg sandwiches and 2 Avocado sandwiches ( originally with prawn). I did think they could have easily offered some vegetarian options, without the option being have the same sandwich but remove the meat/fish or have double of another choice.) The scones were beautiful and still warm ( although no butter was provided for the cheese scone so I tried it with the clotted cream from the fruit scone, which I would recommend as an experimental scone to anyone!) The cake level included a very cute dessert in glass with the smallest every spoon. Ended up taking 2 of the cakes away with me as was full by the time I reached that level! We were allocated 1.5 hours for the booking and it was a perfect amount of time, especially as service was quick. We didn't feel rushed or bothered and had a beautiful afternoon! Thank you!

Stayed for on night on 6.9.2025 to attend a wedding. Excellent treating at reception, room lovely , only a small note lovely big bath but the water was luke warm. Slept very well. Breakfast was delicious, lovely produce and piping hot. On way back up to our room the house keeping staff were exceptional , I have a walking cane and they held open all the doors down the corridor for me . First class service will be returning.

My partner and I had a very reasonably priced one night stay at this fantastic hotel. We almost felt like royalty. The room was immaculate and, at a guess, seemed to have recently been refurbished to a very high standard as did most of the hotel. The hotel was very well presented, clean and stylish, but the main attraction had to be the staircase! (see for yourself). Also the staff were very well presented, friendly and above all very professional in what they did. We will definitely stay again.!
